Meet our colleagues
‹‹EnterCard is very good at acknowledging competence. It’s not just about moving upwards, not everyone wants to be a manager.››
Linus Sundvik had connections at EnterCard that recommended him to apply for a position in 2015. He now works as a Senior Compliance Specialist within Risk and Control, and ensures that EnterCard is operating within the boundaries of compliance.
His work is broad and includes everything from finance questions to data privacy and customer protection. The fact that he is involved in so many different areas is what he finds most exciting in his role.
“I think EnterCard is quite unique; it’s a joint venture between two big owners – Swedbank and Barclays Bank, with all the strengths and competencies helping to shape the company, but operationally EnterCard is quite self-governing and slim. Of course we are large – we have 1,7 million customers, but we are not that many employees. We are all involved in many different areas and the time between an idea and launch is quick here.”
Linus describes the environment at EnterCard as mixed and varied, both when it comes to age, gender, and backgrounds – something he finds stimulating and a real asset to the company. It was the description of EnterCard’s company culture and values, Passionate, Innovative and Genuine, that caught his attention back in 2015.
“It might sound like a cliché, but these qualities show in the people here. There are many strong-willed and competent people full of ideas. Everyone is easy-going, open and there is a lot of laughter. In some companies, compliance is a sidetrack – here it’s high on the agenda for everyone. We are all working towards the same goals but we come at it from different angles. We work together to satisfy our customers, our regulators and our shareholders.”
The opportunity to learn from colleagues and explore new areas of the business is an important motivator for Linus when it comes to personal development.
“EnterCard is very good at acknowledging competence. It’s not just about moving upwards, not everyone wants to be a manager. Here you can move both sideways to new departments and upwards. You learn a lot by challenging yourself to explore new areas. For me personally I learn the most by doing, and at EnterCard you have the opportunity to do that.”
‹‹During my first 3,5 years I’ve had three different roles – in a larger company I probably would have been stuck on a specific and narrow task.››
Zhixue Su has been working at EnterCard as a Credit Risk Analyst for three and a half years. After have finished his Masters of Finance in Stockholm, and met with a few EnterCard employees he decided to apply and got the job. One of the main reasons Zhixue applied in the beginning was the possibility to grow and get exposure to different areas within the company. In his department, Credit Risk, there’s three large teams and the employees have the opportunity to move between all of them.
“During my first 3,5 years I’ve had three different roles – in a larger company I probably would have been stuck on a specific and narrow task. Compared to traditional banking EnterCard is also quite agile and fast to adapt to new things. We don’t have the legacy systems that can hold you back and can therefore innovate quickly.”
Zhixue is responsible for building the credit risk model for the whole department. Every day EnterCard receives a large amount of applications that couldn’t possibly be approved manually. The model Zhixue is responsible for generalizes the customer’s information within certain parameters so that risk could be assessed automatically and applications could be handled efficiently. But for Zhixue, the love for data analysis is more than just about risk:
“Data analytics gives you endless possibilities to explore what’s driving the customer and why customers behave in a certain way. We’re not just finding patterns, but using our knowledge to find the motivation behind the patterns. You can always find interesting patterns in data, it’s about finding which patterns that drives business. To me that’s the best thing, seeing your analytical results turned into strategic success and business growth.”
